Happy (mini) Cupcake (bites) Monday!

27 Feb

Cupcake Monday has long been a tradition here at NelleBelle’s Confections. Instead of awakening Monday morning to a sink full of dishes or a pile of work on my desk, I have the glorious pleasure of opening my eyes only to be greeted by a vast array of cupcakes…and occasionally other confections decide to join the party 🙂

The great Bakerella (if you don’t know her please go to Bakerella , she’s pure confectionary genius) in all of her glory helped me decide what new friend would join this monday’s round-up. I always have a tough decision as the week draws an end: what to bake up this weekend? Cake, cookies, brownies, or my beloved cupcakes? As I’ve done before, I gave combining more than one option a try.

…and in walks cupcake bites! They’re cake balls sweetly dipped and delightfully designed to look like little cupcakes. I think I can feel my heart melting just looking at these lovely little darlings. How adorable!

Yellow cake and vanilla frosting (a winning combination, might I add) cradled in milk chocolate and topped in white chocolate gets gently sprinkled in a dress (yes, they wear dresses, just like most pretty girls do 🙂 ) of rainbow nonpareils and graced by a chocolate candy presence. Sound delicious yet? That’s because it is!

At first glance, you see a mini cupcake: so cute, so sweet, so innocent and classically tempting. Next, grab and hold: “Hmmm, it’s a little heavier than usual…and no wrapper? Nice!” Just pop it in and enjoy! Over the lips and past the gums; look out belly, here it comes! Oh wait, could it be…the taste of chocolate, candy, and cake? It’s like all of my dreams wrapped in one! And yes, though some find it special to dream in color, I dream in candy…can’t help it.

Though, the first instinct may be to eat it all at once, I implore you to heed to its enchanting name: Cupcake Bites (emphasis on ‘bites’). Wouldn’t want you to miss the present inside because I’m certain you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Until next time, have a delicious day!

Summer breeze…

15 Feb

It’s unusually warm really unusually warm outside. The middle of February is upon us yet it feels more like the end of April. Waking up to 70 degree weather tends to play tricks on the mind. Tricks like, “Hey, I don’t have to wear a coat today!” Wrong. Those 70 degree mornings tend to lead to 50 degree nights so, yes, coats are necessary.

So what do you do when life (better yet, the weather) gives you lemons? No, ’round these parts we don’t make lemonade, not in my kitchen. We make cupcakes!

Oh, wait…life didn’t give me lemons. But the grocery store did give me limes and cherries. And I’m thinking up something a bit more refreshing than a tall drink of juice.

Cherry Limeade cupcake

Breathe it in…that crisp smell of limes and that sweet breeze of cherries. Almost feels like summer, despite the dying bits of snow most likely awaiting somewhere outside your home. It’s nostalgia and anticipation all in a hand-held cup of goodness. Though it’s rather warm out now, it won’t last long. That winter chill is sure to return soon enough.

Didn’t mean to burst your bubble, though. Still sad about the fleeting good weather outside? Just grab one of these babies. Pretty hard to be sad with a cupcake in your hand.

Lime juice and actual whole maraschino cherries adorn every bite of these spring-like delights. The cherry buttercreme frosting adds an extra bit of sweet to that sharp sting from the fresh limes. All it seems to be missing is a straw tilted to the side…

Until consistently warmer seasons come around, tidbits of what could be will have to tide us all over. I’m sure these treats are a worthy companion for nights like tonight, those spent reminiscing on more comfortable climates.

Until next time, have a delicious day!

A rose for the lady?

9 Feb

Well, how about it? Valentine’s Day seems merely seconds away and most aren’t prepared. Not because they haven’t gathered their presents, but mostly because they feel they haven’t gathered enough. Valentine’s Day seems to be the most popular time of year to not just be in love, but to show it in as many ways as possible. So why not show it with flowers? So I’ll ask again, “A rose for the lady?”

Hmmm, maybe even a rose for the gentleman? (Men like roses , too — especially the edible kind)

Anyone can give roses for Valentine’s Day; It’s practically a standard at this point. But edible cupcake roses…now that would definitely stand out from the crowd of other in-office deliveries and front-door surprises. After all, this is the time to be special, right?

Then again, not everyone is into roses, or even flowers, for that matter. Though these pretty “plants” would make a rather fitting presentation, there are other options for the non-flower-lovers in your life…

If presentation is everything, imagine what a warm welcome these beauties would get!

Heart-shaped cake pops? Sure, what a great idea! Red Velvet cake grazed with a warm layer of cream cheese frosting and blanketed by a loving array of red, pink, and white confetti make these treats simply irresistible. Aren’t you falling in love just looking into their Valentine-inspired nonpareil eyes?  (it’s easy to be captivated by confections, particularly confections as cute as these 🙂 )

Like roses, they can still be held, devoured, and, most importantly, shown off to all who are willing to give them a look. And with such a pretty face, who wouldn’t want to look? My thoughts exactly.

Regardless of what you choose to give that special someone for Valentine’s Day, make sure it shows just how you feel in more than just material possessions… although material possessions, specifically those aforementioned, would be an excellent addition to the words and actions of the day. *hint hint*

Until next time, have a delicious day!
