Pure Craziness!

22 Jan

Chocolate cake? Oreo frosting? Yellow candles? Is it my birthday already?

Seriously? Sheesh, time flies! Just when I get out of the holiday order rush, this comes along…and creates a whole new rush! It’s the cake so nice, I made it twice!

…okay, maybe thrice?

…make that frice — is ‘frice’ even a word? Eh, I’d rather keep the rhyme theme going than to find out the real alternative to saying ‘4 times’.

All in all, the point is it’s been pure craziness around here all thanks to the Chocolate Cookies and Cream cake. I’ve made 4 in the past week with the orders racking up daily. Have you ordered yours yet?

Until next time, have a delicious day!

Gather ’round the fire!

2 Dec

December is here already? That explains why it’s getting so incredibly cold outside. But, with my oven cranking around the clock, it’s much warmer inside. Who needs a fireplace when I’ve got an oven at 350 degrees? Seriously, hardly anybody looks forward to this time of year. Goodbye fall, goodbye Halloween, goodbye Thanksgiving, hello Christmas. Wait…hello Christmas?!?! Oh, joy! Christmas is just around the corner! Do you know what that means? Or at least what that means to a baking addict such as myself? *sniff sniff* There are such glorious smells that fill the air this time of year; it can only be one of two things…

#1 – Gingerbread!

Gingerbread Men

Gingerbread men are a staple this season. Lovingly laced with ginger, cloves, allspice and more, these 6-inch soldiers will protect you from the harsh conditions just beyond your doorstep. And it doesn’t hurt that they come complete with the classic three red buttons 🙂

…or maybe #2 – Peppermint!

peppermint mocha cupcake

The cool smell of peppermint reminds me of the cool winds swirling across my window. The red and white colors definitely keep with the sense of the Christmas season. Chocolate cupcakes infused with the intense flavor and intoxicating aroma of peppermint deserve to be topped with the ever-so-appropriate whipped topping (and red sanding sugar just to help set the mood). How awesome would it be to come in from the cold and cozy up to a warm mug of peppermint mocha cupcakes? Yum…

Boy, these two make an awesome pair. Although, separating them couldn’t hurt. Either way, they’re a delicious addition to any winter night and another sweet treat coming from my kitchen to yours. The bakery is always open. Want some? Just order (nellebellesconfections@gmail.com), it’s my pleasure 🙂

Stay warm out there!

Until next time, have a delicious day!

A Very Busy Bee!

16 May

Whew! It has been an incredibly busy time for NelleBelle’s Confections over the past few weeks. My deepest apologies for not posting sooner but, between the incoming orders and the new menu additions, it’s been a little hard to keep you wonderful folks up-to-date on the latest goings-on of the bakery. I’ll make it up to you, promise.

Parisian macarons…mmmmmm….so light, so tasty, so popular!

We’ve added chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla Parisian macarons.

…even colored ones. (The blue ones seen here are for a custom order.)

And speaking of custom orders, there’s been quite a few custom cakes coming from NelleBelle’s Oven. This is just one.

Even Peanut butter and jelly cupcakes have made their way onto the roster. I just love that the jelly is ‘sticking it’s tongue out’ at you . 🙂

And the PB & J’s weren’t alone in the inauguration process (yes, there was an actual induction ceremony held); These awesome Neapolitan cupcakes came along for the ride, too! They’re chocolate and vanilla marbled cupcakes with a decadent strawberry frosting…3 in 1!

See? The confections have been in heavy production! And, thanks to you, they have a chance of staying that way for years to come.

Until next time, have a delicious day!

A Classic Beauty Indeed

23 Dec

One thing is absolutely, positively for certain: cupcakes rock. They’re small, compact, bite-size, decorative, attractive…the list of qualities goes on for days. But one thing that a cupcake must always be is delicious.

Nowadays cupcakes are available from single flavors with simplistic color schemes to flavor-explosions with more bells and whistles than the average man came prepared for. My fellow bakers and confectioners have gone off the deep end – in a good way. There is so much to choose from, so much to indulge in that cupcakes are almost anything but boring. Variety is a thing of beauty, but a classic beauty never fades.

“Why, Mr. Cupcake, you’ve become quite the handsome devil, haven’t you?”

I caught myself whispering this as I piped the chocolate buttercreme frosting atop these golden butter cupcakes. They were so fluffy and sweet, they seemed to be almost smiling when their new crowning glory was applied. “Be proud, my little cupcake friends, be very proud.” There I go whispering again…

With jalapeno-mango, green-tea&wasabi, and other rather interesting options floating around out there in the world of cupcakes, it’ll always be nice to take a stroll down memory lane to simpler times. The yellow cake: gotta love it.

…and chocolate frosting isn’t bad, either 🙂

Until next time, have a delicious day!
